Washington, June 20, 2025 - President Donald Trump signed Executive Order 14179, which replaces the Biden administration's regulatory framework on artificial intelligence. The new directive directs all federal agencies to review their policies to eliminate “ideological bias” and accelerate technological innovation.
The order states that a new National Action Plan on AI must be submitted within the next 180 days, prioritizing defense, cyber threat control and competitiveness against powers such as China.
The move was welcomed by technology companies, although academics and civil rights organizations have expressed concern about the reduction of ethical and fairness checks on algorithms.
